I thought I would have a go at a couple of challenges on Sunday just for fun...
I started out with this weeks challenge on the American Crafts Studio Blog: Create a layout about what you are doing on your summer vaction....well it's not exactly Summer Vacation here in Australia so I interpreted it to be a layout about one of our favourite things to do in summer...which is go to the beach...and this one is specifically about how much J loved being on the beach the first time we really let her loose (which was actually an unseasonably warm Autumn day LOL)
All papers are American crafts...a combination of Dear Lizzy and older papers from my stash. I cut and edge punched the strips to give the feel of the ripples on the water...handcut a title from a small piece of PP and added a few various rubons and embellies to finish off :)
I used the celebrate sunshine stamp, which is part of the Dear Lizzy range too but I stitched over sunshine to add some colour and texture :)
Speaking of Dear Lizzy I noticed that they have just started adding sneaks of the CHAW release on the blog and they look great...different to the Spring range but so much there to love, especially all the cool embellishments!!!
Next I did the new Scrap the Boys challenge...I actually did 2 but I like this one better and it fits the criteria best.
It is totally different to my usual style but I am happy with how it turned out...I do love the totally clean, graphic style and I have also been loving all the 6x12 LO's Amanda Hall has been scrapping lately so I was very much inspired by her gorgeous work with this one!
I planned my layout in photoshop, printed the text and went from there. There are probably a couple of things I would have done differently if I were more of a perfectionist but I was happy enough with the placement as is....it took me quite a while to find the perfect place for the title and to figure out the title because I had no e's or s's left in any of the 3 sets of thickers that worked with the LO!!!
I used AC Zing embossing powder and a gel pen to add colour to the beach hut house by Leeann Pearce...I love those little houses! This one works perfectly as the weatherboard house we live in :)
All PP's are American crafts again...the dark green I have used to Matte is actually Dear Lizzy and the rest is from the Junior range...which I totally love because it is totally perfect for Bastian right now!
This is my first attempt at the Scrap the Boys challenge...it didn't quite come out how I pictured it so I finished it off and called it done!
Papers are AC junior (again), the circle is Pink Paislee which was park of the awesome RAK I got from Georgia :) and some older AC rubons that I won at a cybercrop last year :)
The boy is a total set of contradiction and this photo illustrates that perfectly...the football he is holding is pink...he is such a boy...balls, cars, blocks, toy guns, loud noise, running, jumping, trains...all that great boy stuff...but because of those 3 sisters he still loves girl stuff too...he'll play babies with Lil all day long, dress in tutus and all that girly sort of stuff. Bless him (he's actually lying on the couch snoozing next to me as I type).
With all the kids quietly occupied or asleep I think I might take some of my newly acquired stash (I had 2 pizza boxes arrive today...one is the August Storyboard Kit and it is DELISH) and go play!
Have a great day!
Tatum xx
