Our little girls is growing up so fast...the photos on both of these layouts are not very old but she has gotten so much more grown up looking just in the last few weeks even. With so many kids and so many 'moments' everyday it is impossible to keep up with scrapping every single one...but I try :)
When I tidy up my room...as in tidy up so I have enough desk space to scrap and floor space that I'm not standing on things...I end up with piles of scraps that 'go together' and I want to use some more before I resign them to the depths of the scraps bag...these layouts were born from those piles!
A simple, clean 8.5 x 11...J has had a rough time whenever she has been teething, much much moreso than any of the older 3 and this picture of her with her finger in her mouth seemed to perfectly suit a LO about just that...
The background paper is MME Just Dreamy 2 and had been calling to me for ages where it was peeking out from the 'toast rack' where I keep all my addicted to craft papers...the others are cosmo cricket, the purple is a paint swatch...I don't have any papers the purple on J's top in the picture but I do have a stash of paint swatches that came in the 'welcome' box from the removalists when we moved from Mount Isa to Roxby...Heidi Swapp heart spot (which doodled around the heart to add definition) and glitter crate paper bracket from a RAK from Danielle, alphas are MME Lush and those Jenni Bowlin circle aplhas that I just adore.
Journalling was printed on a 4x6 index card that J pinched out of one of my cupboards and abandoned on the floor...perfect for printing the journalling on and it saved my finding something else LOL! Finished off with a Martha Stewart monarch butterfly punched from a dear lizzy scrap (I periodically round up my small scraps and punch shapes from them...I have a small bucket full of butterflies...awfully & unusually organised of me I know) and a couple of sweet flower beads.
***I wrote this next part earlier today to get if off my chest because it has kind of been in the back of my mind for a while, and not in response to anything other than my own thoughts and feeling iykwim?...I thought about just deleting it but it is something that I want to share...if you don't want to know about my inner workings just gloss over to the next lo ;) ***
As I was scrapping this I was having something of a mental battle with myself about my scrapping lately being a little boring, for want of a better word...kind of stuck in a rut I guess...but at the same time I was making no apologies to myself about it because I am still keeping memories and telling my stories which is actually, it turns out, the main reason for my doing this and sometimes all the other 'stuff' can kind of get in the way of me enjoying it...and really, it shouldn't...she rambles.
I commented to a friend recently that I like my layouts the best...not because I'm all egotistical about them...but because they are mine, my kids, my stories, etc...sure, I see lots of layouts that I love and am inspired by made by other people...honestly, I think that all scrappers should feel like I do, that each of us should love our layouts best...and make no apologies for it either :)
Whenever the kids drag out the scrapbooks it really reinforces this to me because they do have so many 'memories' of stuff that there is no way they actually remember but they do know the story because it has been written down.
Anyway after that I read Ali Edward's blog and with perfect timing about her not wanting to make stuff unless it is meaningful. The point of this, I don't know...I guess I wanted to get it off my chest and just remind myself and you that your scrapbooking pages totally rock, because they are yours :)
So...hope you are still with me after that LOL...still on the round up of paper scraps I put this one together but I also pulled out some embellishments that I thought would work with the colour scheme...and then endeavoured to stick every last one of them on, just for the fun of it! LOL
Do you know how good it felt to use that entire (and over priced I might add) pack of Jenni Bowlin Butterflies and 2 of the (overpriced again) vintage buttony things as flower centres combined with tiny doiliyes...and use up the last of those Sass Lass flower+button embellies that had been sitting behind my trimmer annoying me for months..sooooo good! Bit of doily goodness from both Sweet Vintage and the chipchopshop...fun :)
I am not the best at using flowers on layouts...a fact I am sure I have mentioned before...and I seriously have piles of them...but I used 2...not one but 2...yay me LOL!
I actually set out to do the current how much is too much challenge with this...the challenge celebrates Miss Kat's birthday
- 1 flower
- 2 photos
- 7 pieces of ribbon
- 8 words
- 1 journal spot
as you can see I failed dismally...but I shall try again LOL
Anyway...if you have made it this far...thanks for *listening*...
Have a great day!
