I knew what I was going to take a photo of today when I bought the girls tickets to the Kids Premiere of Toy Story 3 here in Roxby.
They were having a spag bol + garlic bread dinner with icecream sundae for dessert all included :) Here they are all dressed up for their night out. Love how they organise these things at the cinema here, the girls went to an Alvin & the Chipmunks marathon back in January...they have them for grown ups too...they even had a 'blokes night' with beers & burgers & a couple of action movies recently LOL!
I was reflecting on how lucky they are to have each other...even though they aren't twins their relationship is that close. They are the very best of friends, even if they don't actually recognise it...and so very lucky to always have each other there to do stuff like this with!
But...with my photo all planned out I ended up with more to share
Both of the girls got gr8 people awards today...they gove these out every few weeks or month...one person in each class gets them I think...and each one has a theme....obviously this one is for knowledge :) I wonder if their teachers collaborated so that they got them at the same time LOL...needless to say I am very proud of them both! (I took about 10 photos and there were none where they were both looking at the camera at the same time!)
But wait there's more...I couldn't really do today's photo without adding something about politics given it has, actually, been an historic day in Australia with Julia Gillard assuming the position of Australian Prime Minister
...so I pinched this one from news.com ....
When I was younger I remember being told that I could grow up I could be the first femal prime minister of Australia...well, clearly that's not going to happen now, I've been beaten to the punch line :D ... and, despite being a mining engineer, I am also a stay at home mum to 4 kids and far from being a feminist...but seeing Julia being inducted (or whatever the word is) by Quentin Bryce really did fill me with some pretty overwhelming emotion....so did seeing Kevin Rudd's speech, it was awful to see the poor man in tears and he did do some pretty great stuff for health and education....and I was kind of impressed by Julia....but, as I mentioned, I am a mining engineer....so it's not much of a revelation to say that I am violently opposed to the proposed mining super tax....don't care which party or who proposed it from where I stand it is so fundamentally wrong....so I stand, a woman conflicted with it all...I am looking forward to the next federal election to see how it all comes out in the wash...because voting for Tony Abbott as leader really is no choice option either!
I promise I won't have another political rant until the election...but I just felt I needed to add this, for the record :)
