The new year marked my six year anniversary of writing a blog in some form or another. In that time the blogosphere has grown and changed exponentially. I am not sure that the word blogosphere even existed six years ago.
These days the blogs I read are very different to the ones that I started out reading both in subject matter and quality.
To honour six years of me typing away on a blog I thought I would share six blogs that I love and how they are influencing me right now.
I'll start with the one I have been reading for the longest of this selection, Fox In Flats. I met Andrea at a blog conference in Melbourne about 18 months ago. I was little bit in awe of her red lips and very cool style and have been reading ever since.
I love her practical advice, fun style and way that she connects with people. I have loved participating in the regular style dares and enjoyed being pushed out of my style comfort zone.
Fitness and fitting it into your day is a topic that Andrea melds seamlessly into her content as something that is a genuine part of her week. There is so much to love about Fox In Flats.
I have been following My Food Religion on Instagram and I always love seeing what pops up in Shan's feed. Her food philosophy is very similar to my own and I always find it exciting to stumble across other people who share my food passion.
You will find plenty of great, good for you food inspiration and ideas to try on My Food Religion.
When I discovered that Karla Gilbert had started blogging I was a little starstruck. It took me back to my days as a Surf Lifesaving Junior when she was my favourite Ironwoman.
Ironmum Karla offers so much advice on health and well being backed by her experience and knowledge as a professional athlete. There is always so plenty to learn but the casual beachy feel of the blog makes you feel happy whenever you load a new page.
I discovered The Healthy Chef six months or more ago and have tried quite a few of her recipes, particularly the baking. Finding snacks that aren't too sweet or repetitive is where I start to come undone. Not because I'll end up eating things I don't really want, I just end up getting frustrated and hungry and that does not make me a happy camper.
On the healthy chef you will find several different chocolate cakes, cookies and some great comfort food alternatives.
If I was to name someone who has one of my ideals of a dream career it would be Donna Hay but I'd pick Katie from What Katie Ate as a pretty close second. Beautiful photos + amazing food and I am in HEAVEN.
I also really admire that this wasn't Katie's first career but she took a big leap of faith and chased her dreams. I love that. I want to do that. Inspirational.
When I was in New York for BlogHer12 last year I got to meet quite a few other Aussies. On the first day of the conference I spotted a face I recognised and went and plonked myself down next to her. It was the best thing I could have done. I met one of the nicest, most down to earth people you can possibly imagine.
Katrina's joy and energy completely inspired me. The many hours I have spent thinking and planning and scribbling about Eat.Move.Explore have been punctuated with happy memories from New York of the couple of days I spent at BlogHer12 with Katrina and her mate AM. So many ideas about what is to come and where I can take this have been drawn from what I learnt at BlogHer both from the sessions but in conversation with these lovely ladies.
If you haven't seen it already you need to follow Katrina's new Blog Under 100 Dollars. Hello shopping.
So, that begs the obvious question, what blogs inspire you and why?
